About SoBerry Clean: The Company
SoBerry Clean is a new, family owned business that we founded in our hometown on beautiful Cape Cod, due to a desire to bring an environmentally superior choice for laundry needs to interested people. We learned about soapberries when we were looking into how to get our family’s laundry clean, while reducing our negative impact on earth. When we found soapberries, we knew we had found something special.
By making the switch to soapberries, we realized the ecological benefits of using these little berries were well worth changing how we thought about cleaning our laundry. There would be no more big plastic jugs coming into our home. Our laundry greywater would not have any chemicals going into our septic tank or leaching field. Just knowing that the grass our children play on was no longer filled with the chemicals traditional laundry soaps are made from was a huge plus for us. Also, we were thrilled to know that there were no chemicals, unnecessary additives, or fragrances in our clothing—which rests on our skin all day long. By eliminating these chemicals from our home, we were creating a greener environment for our children.
When we made the switch to soapberries (also called soapnuts), our youngest child was an infant. We washed her clothes with soapberries too, as they are fragrance free and chemical free. Soapberries were not only safe for our baby, but it also worked to get her clothes clean.
Realizing how cool all of this was, we started to imagine a world where more people knew about soapberries as an option. We thought that perhaps, we could help make our world a cleaner place. That was when we decided to jump in with both feet, and create SoBerry Clean. We hand sort and package these berries in our Massachusetts workshop to provide you with an eco-friendly alternative for your laundry.
Our goal is to help as many people as we can use fewer resources, produce cleaner greywater, and get their laundry done—naturally.
We here at SoBerry Clean are committed to using soapberries in their raw form (the natural berry) without processing the berry in any way. This allows us to receive the full benefits of using the soapberry, while having minimal impact on our environment. This eliminates the need to use petro-chemicals to process the berry and plastic bottles to store the berry in.
Sustainability is extremely important to us. The wool yarn that we use to attach our tags to our muslin bags is purchased from a local educational farm, Soule Homestead in Middleboro, Massachusetts. We use a local printer for the printing of our tags and informational cards. These printed materials are printed on recycled paper with soy ink. We choose to advertise with companies that also share a commitment to sustainability--the GoGreen Web Directory and edibleSouth Shore.
Thank you for your interest in our company.
